Scott Jones

My Ironman career began in 2001 when I went to watch a friend compete in Ironman Canada.  I became so motivated by what I saw that day that I woke up very early the morning after the race and stood in line for 4 hours to sign up to compete in my first Ironman.  I didn’t own a bike.  I didn’t even own running shoes and I hadn’t swum a lap in over ten years.  I bought a book for working athletes, copied the 20 week beginner ironman program and the rest is history.

This sport has literally changed my life.  I have trained and raced all over the world.  I have met some amazing people, with one of them being my very own wife!  I began coaching on the back of bar napkins for my friends and that has migrated into IMJ Coaching and Consulting, LLC over the last 7 years.  It is my goal to continue to race as an elite age grouper and to provide world class coaching to my athletes.  I came up with the saying “Train with joy or not at all!” as I believe training and racing is a “want to, not a have to”.  I believe we can do extraordinary things in sport if we totally commit ourselves to the effort.  I plan to do that the rest of my life!
