IMJ Coaching August Camp
Sunday 28th July to Saturday 4th August
While IMJ Coaching is only a few years old, Scott Jones and his wife, Teresa Rider, long ago established a reputation for creating a unique and life-changing coaching environment where all athletes of all abilities are able to come train in a warm, friendly, family environment. The fact that these camps now take place in the Mecca of endurance sports, Boulder, Colorado, make these camps an absolute “must do” on the triathlete’s summer schedule.
Scott and Teresa’s goal for these camps is simple; to provide professionally supported camps in the perfect venue for the athlete. These camps will both push you to your limits and also provide an environment to learn more about training, racing, race-day psychology and nutrition. While the training in the camps is very demanding, the goal is not to break the athlete or to race each other for 20+ hours of training, but to create a tribe of like-minded campers who are here to take themselves to the next level and beyond in the sport. Scott and Teresa train right alongside the athletes through every single session and the athlete is never by themselves. When the training gets difficult, the campers rally the entire group with the goal of everyone to pull the extraordinary from each other during this week.
Along with the hard core training, comes what no other camp offers; the full attention and personal instruction from Champion athletes and coaches, Scott and Teresa. You will eat all your meals in their home and become part of their family. Whether it is your cycling, your running, your swimming- you name it, they will make you a different athlete during your week with them.
The camps are all-inclusive. You will stay at the Boulder Twin Lakes Inn, a quiet country inn with spacious suites including private bath and mini-kitchen. You have the option of single or double occupancy. The Inn is located just a few miles from our home where we start and end all training sessions. All meals are planned to suit training and recovery. Everything we eat is organic and/or free range.
The August Camp is ideal for the triathlete who is targeting a late season race or is in their final build for Ironman Canada, Louisville, Wisconsin along with those who have already qualified for Kona or are setting the stage for Las Vegas 70.3 Championships or Ironman Florida. The camps are built for all ability levels, but as this camp falls later in the race season, the training in this camp will be tailored to the ironman competitor who is ready to take his training clearly into another level of performance.
Your week spent with us at altitude will not only change you as an athlete, you will train in close quarters with other campers who are in the same frame of mind and will make friendships forged through a week of barrier-breaking sessions that will last forever!
Training
These 7 days of training will incorporate the ideal mix of each of the three disciplines, as well as include some extensive instruction on dry land training for core and swim strength. Our swim instruction will be personalized and all about what each athlete can do to dramatically improve their body position and performance in the water. The riding will focus both on technique; pack riding skills, time trial position and cadence, as well as general tips on being as strong and efficient on the bike as possible. The running will be on the trails and the road, with the emphasis on making you strong, efficient and technically sound with a lot of time spent on cadence and form.
